Rehlko (Kohler) Marine Generators

For onboard appliances, air conditioning and workboat electrical loads, a Rehlko marine generator supplies the AC power that keeps the vessel running. Kitfix helps Hong Kong owners plan maintenance, installation and parts enquiries around the installed generator and boat distribution system. Start with the model and serial plate so the service discussion fits the actual set.

EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS

Systems and product families

Rehlko’s marine range serves pleasure craft and commercial vessels, with each set defined by fuel, frequency, phase, output, alternator and controller. Selected pleasure-craft models have an integrated paralleling feature that lets compatible sets work together as onboard demand changes. Rehlko also lists model-specific preventive-maintenance kits and a Sea Spares kit. These options make the generator family and electrical configuration central to service planning: similarly sized sets may have different controls, parts and installation requirements.

01Pleasure-craft generator sets

The range serves onboard power needs on recreational vessels. Selection begins with the vessel’s electrical system: single- or three-phase distribution, required frequency and voltage, simultaneous loads, starting demand and space available for the set and its sound enclosure.

02Commercial generator sets

Rehlko lists separate commercial products with their own ratings and controller options. A commercial duty profile can mean different operating hours and load patterns from a leisure installation, so the intended duty and the set’s model code belong in the service brief.

03Built-in generator paralleling

On compatible marine generator installations, Rehlko's built-in PGEN system can parallel up to eight sets of different sizes through a single communication connection. It can bring an additional set online as demand rises and take it offline when demand falls. Compatibility depends on the generator and controller configuration.

SERVICE AND INSTALLATION

Planning service for your vessel

  1. 01

    Read the complete nameplate

Record model, serial number, frequency, phase and output voltage. Also note the controller and alternator details; a data sheet for a neighboring rating may describe a different configuration.

  2. 02

    Plan the whole installation

Check access to filters and service points alongside ventilation, exhaust routing, seawater cooling and sound-shield removal. The usable compartment and clearances matter as much as the generator footprint.

  3. 03

Keep service records with the set

Share any Kohler data sheet or previous service schedule alongside the generator plate. These can help identify an existing configuration; use the matching service procedure for the model and serial range when planning work.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about this equipment

Why does Kitfix refer to both Kohler and Rehlko?

Kohler Energy became an independent business in May 2024 and adopted the Rehlko name in September 2024. Many existing marine generators still carry Kohler nameplates, which is why both names appear here. Please provide the nameplate and model details for parts or service enquiries.

What should I send when asking about a replacement set?

Send clear nameplate photos, the existing data sheet if available, the vessel’s phase and frequency, measured compartment access, exhaust and cooling arrangement, and the electrical loads the set must carry. A replacement needs an installation review, not a kW comparison alone.
