Fin Stabilizers & Thruster Control

ABT•TRAC Fin Stabilizers & Thruster Control

ABT•TRAC combines yacht stabilization and hydraulic equipment across systems that may also serve thrusters, steering or other deck loads. Kitfix provides maintenance, troubleshooting, repair solutions and installation planning based on the vessel's complete equipment layout.

EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS

Systems and product families

ABT•TRAC’s portfolio includes fin stabilizers, thrusters, ride-control products, hydraulic power systems and electronic controls. Its integrated-hydraulic approach can coordinate multiple onboard loads from a common system, while TRAC-Link provides system interaction and monitoring through a networked control platform. The exact pumps, valves, actuators, sensors and network components depend on the vessel specification. An older yacht may also combine components from different equipment generations. Mapping the hydraulic schematic and control connections is therefore useful before diagnosing an intermittent fin, thruster or helm issue. Kitfix can help scope the service question and identify the information required for a system-level assessment.

01Fin stabilizers and ride control

Hydraulic or electronically controlled fins respond to vessel movement and operating conditions. The fin, actuator, hydraulic supply, position sensing and control settings work together; inspect the full chain rather than treating the foil as an isolated part.

02Thrusters and shared hydraulic loads

Bow or stern thrusters and other hydraulic equipment can be served by integrated power arrangements. Pump capacity, valve operation and simultaneous demand matter when more than one system uses the same supply.

03TRAC-Link and system controls

TRAC-Link connects system functions through a networked control platform. Control displays, sensors and communication links may be shared; record software or hardware changes before replacing a component.

SERVICE AND INSTALLATION

Planning service for your vessel

  1. 01

    Build a system map

List each stabilizer, thruster and hydraulic load, photograph the power unit and control displays, and gather hydraulic and wiring diagrams. Note which functions fail together or separately.

  2. 02

    Describe when the fault occurs

Record vessel speed, sea state, other hydraulic equipment in use, alarms, oil condition and whether the symptom changes after warm-up. This helps identify shared supply or control causes.

  3. 03

    Integrated stabilizer and thruster systems

ABT•TRAC's integrated hydraulic systems are used to support ABT•TRAC thrusters and ride control products as well as third party hydraulic devices such as capstans, windlasses, cranes, generators, bilge pumps and many other devices.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about this equipment

What should be checked when a stabilizer fin has failed to operate?

The symptom can involve the actuator, control valve, hydraulic supply, oil condition, sensing or a shared onboard load. The hydraulic system should be checked and the diagram and notes about other equipment operating at the same time help narrow the cause. Call Kitfix for Further Support.

What should I provide for an ABT•TRAC service enquiry?

Share the vessel, equipment and control model details, hydraulic power-unit plate, photographs of displays and alarms, available schematics, oil or filter service history, and whether thrusters or other hydraulic loads were operating when the issue occurred.
