Marine watermakers

Idromar Marine Watermakers

Idromar reverse-osmosis watermakers turn seawater into fresh water for life on board. Compact, modular and twin-unit configurations can suit different equipment spaces and daily water needs. Kitfix provides installation planning, maintenance and parts-enquiry support matched to the equipment fitted to the vessel.

EQUIPMENT SYSTEMS

Systems and product families

Idromar’s official marine range includes Mini Compact Junior, Mini Compact Senior, Top Compact Senior and custom systems. The Mini Compact lines are available in horizontal, vertical and decomposable layouts; some configurations are also offered as duplex units with separate or simultaneous operation. The manufacturer positions the ranges for different vessel sizes and usage patterns, but current capacity and dimensional details must be checked for the exact model. Water output also depends on the manufacturer’s stated test conditions and the condition of the intake, pre-filters and membranes. A compact frame does not remove the need to plan for membrane length, pump access, brine discharge and a safe freshwater route to the vessel tanks.

01Mini Compact Junior

Junior configurations are designed for smaller marine installations, with horizontal and vertical layouts and decomposable versions for tight machinery spaces. The manufacturer also lists a duplex option and compact subfamilies; identify the actual model before comparing production or dimensions.

02Mini Compact Senior

The Senior family is offered in single and duplex arrangements. Its component layout can be adapted around the vessel’s space, but the installed arrangement still needs working room for inspection, flushing and membrane service.

03Top Compact and custom systems

Top Compact and custom products address larger or application-specific water requirements. Their capacity, footprint and electrical demand vary significantly, so they should be assessed from the current model drawing and vessel water-use plan.

SERVICE AND INSTALLATION

Planning service for your vessel

  1. 01

    Set a realistic water-use profile

List daily freshwater demand, tank capacity and typical run periods. Ask which production test conditions apply to the model; seawater temperature and salinity affect the result.

  2. 02

    Protect the intake and membranes

Review the seacock, strainer, pre-filter condition, flushing arrangement and brine outlet. A change in intake quality or a long idle period can affect production and membrane condition.

  3. 03

Allow space for the complete system

Measure the frame, membrane vessels, pump and control components separately. Removable or decomposable layouts still need access for connections, flushing, inspection and eventual component removal.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions about this equipment

What should I check if water production falls?

Record the model, hours since service, seawater temperature if known, product-water reading, pressure and any alarm. Share these details and the recent maintenance history with Kitfix so the production change can be assessed against the installed system.

Does a duplex unit always run both sides together?

Idromar describes duplex Mini Compact systems that can operate separately or simultaneously. The control and plumbing arrangement on the installed model determines how it is used; confirm that configuration from its drawing and operating manual.
